Domestic abuse whether verbal or physical violence can lead to serious problems and damaging effects on the marriage. Abuse is also one of the strongest grounds for divorce. Everyone who suffers from physical abuse from a partner or spouse has the right to be free from such painful situations. There are times when domestic abuse particularly verbal violence is dealt with successfully through marriage counseling. The partner who is being abused verbally or physically is usually advised to leave the relationship if the offense is a bad habitual pattern for the abuser. In some cases, the abused is also advised to seek legal counsel to file charges against abuser. Domestic abuse is one of the major causes of broken marriages because the results of this offense are oftentimes damaging and degrading. The hurtful words that were spoken and the horrific episodes of physical abuse leave a scar emotionally and mentally.
